Production Years and Model Code
The first-generation Mazda CX-5 (model code KE) debuted in 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Serial production began in 2012, with sales starting the same year. Production of the Mk1 continued until 2016 when the model received a facelift. In some countries, including Russia, the first-generation CX-5 was sold until 2017.
2015 Facelift
In 2015, Mazda introduced an updated version of the CX-5. Exterior changes included a new radiator grille, redesigned front and rear lights, and slightly modified bumpers. The interior featured improved trim materials, a new multimedia system with a larger screen, and additional safety systems such as blind spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking.

How to Remove the Front Bumper

Open the hood.

Remove two clips and take off the hood latch cover.

Unscrew four screws and remove four clips securing the upper part of the front bumper (radiator grille panel).

Under the vehicle, unscrew ten screws and remove two clips (screwed and inserted from bottom to top) that secure the lower part of the bumper to the lower protective trim and wheel arches.

Bend the protective trim downward and remove two clips.
-
Turn the front wheels inward.
-
In the wheel arches, remove two clips on each side securing the wheel arch extensions.

Release the front part of the wheel arch extensions (held by internal clips, pull toward yourself from bottom to top).

Under the extensions, remove two clips on each side and unscrew one screw on each side securing the fenders to the brackets.

Release the clips in the fenders (pull the bumper corners toward yourself with a jerk).

Release the front fasteners (pull the lower part of the grille toward yourself).

Remove the bumper by pulling it forward (mind the wires and hoses).

Disconnect electrical connectors.

If equipped with headlight washers, disconnect the common hose from the washer pump.
How to Remove the Rear Bumper

Open the trunk.

Unscrew two screws in the trunk opening.

Open the side covers in the trunk.

Under the covers, disconnect electrical connectors and unscrew three nuts on each side securing the taillights.

Release the taillights from their mounts and remove them (from inside the trunk, push the light sideways then pull toward yourself).

Under the vehicle, remove two clips and unscrew four screws (inserted from bottom to top).
-
In the wheel arches, remove two clips on each side securing the wheel arch extensions and two clips securing the fender liners.

Release the rear part of the extensions (held by internal clips, pull toward yourself starting from the bottom).

Under the extensions, unscrew one screw on each side and remove two clips on each side.
-
Release the clips in the fenders (grab the corner and pull toward yourself).
-
Carefully remove the bumper by pulling it backward (mind the wires).
-
Disconnect parking sensor and marker light connectors (if equipped).
Model Description
The CX-5 was Mazda's first vehicle fully developed under the Skyactiv philosophy, featuring optimized engines, lightweight platform, and improved aerodynamics. This resulted in good fuel efficiency and driving dynamics.
The suspension - front MacPherson strut, rear multilink - provided comfort and handling. The interior followed the "Kodo - Soul of Motion" design with minimalist styling and ergonomic controls.
