The Volkswagen ID.3 is the first electric vehicle from the German automaker, built on the modular MEB platform (Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten). The model marked a new chapter in the brand's history, symbolizing the transition to mass-produced electric cars.

Production Years and Model Evolution

The ID.3 premiered in 2019 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, but mass production began only in 2020. The first deliveries to Europe started in September 2020.

In 2023, Volkswagen introduced an updated version of the ID.3 with a revised design, improved interior materials, and increased range.

Modifications and Technical Specifications

The Volkswagen ID.3 is available in several variants, differing in battery capacity and power:

  • ID.3 Pure – Base version with a 45 kWh battery (approx. 350 km WLTP range). Electric motor output: 150 hp (110 kW).
  • ID.3 Pro – The most popular variant with a 58 kWh battery (up to 425 km range). Power remains the same as the Pure: 150 hp.
  • ID.3 Pro S – Top-tier version with a 77 kWh battery (up to 550 km range). Power increased to 204 hp (150 kW).

All versions support fast charging up to 170 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 30–35 minutes.

Design and Interior

The ID.3 features a futuristic design with smooth lines, LED lighting, and an aerodynamic body (Cx = 0.26). The interior has a minimalist layout with a digital instrument cluster (5.3 inches) and a touchscreen infotainment system (10 inches).

Key features:

  • No traditional buttons (controls via touch panels).
  • Spacious cabin due to the absence of a center tunnel.
  • Eco-friendly materials (recycled plastics, vegan leather).

Technology and Safety

The ID.3 is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems:

  • Travel Assist (adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving).
  • Park Assist Plus (automated parking).
  • Car2X (vehicle-to-vehicle and infrastructure communication).

In Euro NCAP tests (2020), the model received a 5-star safety rating.

Interesting Facts
