The Renault Lodgy is a compact MPV produced by the French automaker from 2012 to 2022. Designed as a practical family car with a spacious interior and fuel-efficient engines, this model offered decent specifications but never became a bestseller. Nevertheless, it left a notable mark in the budget MPV segment.

Production Years and Markets

The Renault Lodgy debuted in 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show. Production took place in Morocco (Tangier) and India (Chennai). Key markets included:

  • Europe (until 2016, mainly in Eastern Europe);
  • India (sold as the Lodgy Stepway with a more vibrant design);
  • Africa and the Middle East (where the model remained on sale the longest, until 2022).

In Russia, the Lodgy was sold from 2013 to 2016 but was discontinued due to weak demand.

Model Codes and Platform

The Renault Lodgy was based on the M0 (B0) platform, shared with the Logan, Sandero, and Duster. This ensured a reliable structure and low production costs.

Model codes:

  • Lodgy 5-seater (L90) – standard version;
  • Lodgy 7-seater (L90) – extended version with a third-row seat;
  • Lodgy Stepway (India) – version with increased ground clearance and plastic body cladding.

Design and Interior

The Lodgy featured a simple yet unremarkable design, resembling an enlarged Renault Logan with a tall body and vertical radiator grille.

Interior highlights:

  • Spacious and ergonomic;
  • Available in 5- and 7-seat configurations;
  • The third row is cramped, suitable only for children;
  • Plastic quality is typical for budget models (durable but hard).

The trunk offers 207 liters in the 5-seat version (shrinking to 82 liters with the third row). With all seats folded, cargo capacity expands to 2,818 liters—an excellent figure for a compact MPV.

Technical Specifications

Engines (European market):

  • 1.6 MPI (K7M) – 102 HP, petrol (0-100 km/h in 13.5 sec);
  • 1.5 dCi (K9K) – 90 or 110 HP, diesel (fuel consumption: 4.5–5.2 L/100 km).

Transmissions:

  • 5-speed manual;
  • 4-speed automatic (petrol only).

Chassis:

  • Front suspension – MacPherson strut;
  • Rear suspension – torsion beam;
  • Ground clearance – 165 mm (182 mm in Stepway).

Performance is modest but sufficient for a family car. The diesel variant was praised for its fuel efficiency.
