The Opel Crossland is a compact crossover that has gained popularity due to its practical design, spaciousness, and affordable price. However, in different countries, it may be known under other names. Let's explore where and how it is called, its generation, model code, and some interesting facts associated with it.

Alternative Names in Other Countries

The Opel Crossland is a model initially developed within the PSA Group (now Stellantis) alliance, so it has a "twin" under a different name:

  • Citroën C4 Aircross: Essentially the same model but with slight differences in design and suspension tuning. It was sold in some European and Asian countries.

  • Peugeot 2008 (first generation): A close relative of the Crossland, although Peugeot later moved away from this platform.

  • In some countries, the Crossland may be sold under the Vauxhall brand (e.g., in the UK), but the model name remains unchanged: Vauxhall Crossland.

Generation and Model Code

The Opel Crossland debuted in 2017 and remains in its first generation. The model is built on the PF1 platform, which was also used for the Citroën C3 Picasso and other compact vehicles from the PSA Group. The model code is Opel Crossland X (the "X" index was used at the start of production but was later simplified to just Crossland).

In 2023, Opel introduced an updated version of the Crossland with a redesigned front end, a new multimedia system, and improved interior materials. However, technically, it is still the first generation.

  • Electric Version: Although the Opel Crossland does not yet have a fully electric version, the Opel lineup includes other electric models (e.g., Corsa-e and Mokka-e). Perhaps in the future, the Crossland will also get a "green" variant.

  • Popularity in Europe: The Crossland is particularly popular in Western Europe, where its compact size, efficiency, and practicality are appreciated. In Germany, France, and Spain, it often ranks in the top 10 sales in its segment.

  • Safety: Despite its affordable price, the Crossland received 4 out of 5 stars in Euro NCAP tests thanks to its driver assistance systems and robust body structure.

  • 2023 Update: After the facelift, the Crossland looks more like other Opel models, such as the Mokka and Grandland, emphasizing the brand's design unity.
